Art and creativity can be expressed in a multitude of different ways. For renowned artist Matt Adnate, the method is murals, and the tool is a spray can. His most recent, and possibly largest, canvas is the new art series hotel based in Perth’s CBD, aptly named after the artist himself.

The Adnate Hotel captures the feel of an art gallery with 250 spacious and comfortable rooms, with a stylish modern design throughout. With creativity at the forefront for the design of the hotel, Cooling Brothers worked alongside artists and architects to make the vision come to life.

A report conducted by Tourism Australia has recently discovered that a city’s ability to immerse guests in its local built form and surroundings and has become equally as important as key tourist destinations themselves. The adnate hotel aims to do this with its strategic location and service, as well as the engaging décor and design of its spaces.

“This announcement reflects the continued expansion of Australia’s only boutique hotel brand creating art inspired experiences for guests”  Accor COO Simon McGrath

Boasting one of the tallest hand painted murals in the world, spanning over 25 stories high, eye catching would be an understatement. Adnate captures photo realistic portraits of three different people representing the traditional culture and wide ethnic diversity of Western Australia.

“What excites me most about this collaboration with Art Series is the opportunity to capture the stories and emotions of my subjects and to share them with a new audience in the west. I’ve always held a personal connection towards the First Nation people I paint. Whether it be a connection to country or a strong emphasis on spirituality, I believe we have a lot to learn from these people.”  Matt Adnate stated in an interview.

Adnate’s work is displayed throughout the lobbies, restaurant, and even onto the street scape, with a second 50m long mural accompanying the mega mural. The vibrant and vivid colours of the murals help unify the different communal spaces within and around the new Art Series hotel.

A simple, yet distinct diamond printed glass created and installed by Cooling Brothers has been utilized for the canopy. The design strategically contrasts the striking colours of the murals without distracting the viewer of the master pieces. This has also been demonstrated on the second floor of the newly opened Hyde Perth Kitchen.  The same design on the canopy glass provides protection to pedestrians without taking away the experience of the natural greenery and light that occurs above.

Guests can expect a relaxing, comfortable stay in generous sized rooms that display more stunning artwork and endearing smaller design details. Specialised glass sliding door mechanism allow disabled guests to effortlessly access the shower while still maximising the space provided in the bathrooms. Street style printing amidst grey tiles, contrasted with mirrors deliberately hung in key positions, present the bathrooms with a distinct edgy vibe, yet still remaining spacious and modern.

The Adnate Hotel provides boutique accommodation along with art gallery feel in the heart of Perth’s CBD. Its multiple murals command the attention of every passer-by no matter their fine art expertise. Cooling Brothers printed canopies remain a distinct yet subdued design feature, whist the shower screens provide a functional art canvas.
