FAQs
What is the difference between PVB and SGP?

While both PVB and SGP offer excellent optical clarity, SGP (SentryGlas Plus Interlayer) is 5x stronger and up to 100x stiffer than PVB. SGP was created by DuPont and is produced for the global glass market by Kuraray.
SGP retains structural integrity upon failure, making it suitable for frameless applications like Vista View Frameless Balustrades. In comparison, PVB is a cost-effective solution for applications where higher structural performance is not required. Standard PVB interlayers will not retain structural integrity upon breakage.
What type of glass products does Cooling Brothers supply in Melbourne?

Cooling Brothers supplies the full range of glass productsfor the Victorian market. This is includes our decorative glass products ImagInk,Digiglass and Vanceva, as well as custom laminated glass, and high performanceLow E soft coat double glazing.
What are the advantages of warm edge spacers?

Unlike conventional aluminium spacers, warm edge spacers are made of composite materials and extruded via CNC directly to the glass during manufacure. This combination of material and manufacturing technology results in a spacer that has lower thermal conductivity, reducing heat loss and maximising thermal performance. For IGUs filled with argon gas, warm edge spacers offer vastly improved impermeability with effectively zero leakage over the lifespan of the unit.
All InsulCool IGUs are manufactured with warm edge spacers as standard.
How do I select the right decorative glass solution for my project?

We carry a range of decorative glass solutions, each with different strengths and weaknesses that may apply depending on your proposed application and design criteria. In addition, you can combine decorative products to achieve outcomes that may be not possible by using a single product.
Our glass selection tool is a great place to start with matching your design objectives to potential decorative solutions. You can access the tool here.
What makes the ImagInk printed surface so durable?

The ImagInk process uses ceramic inks printed directly onto glass surfaces. The glass panel is then heated to dry the inks, toughened, or heat strengthened in a glass furnace. This process permanently fuses the inks to the glass, resulting in a scratch-resistant, durable, and vibrant finish.
