InsulCool Ultra Pro 76: New Soft Coat IGU Delivers 70% VLT with U-Values to 1.29 W/m²·K

Cooling Brothers Glass Company has added a new configuration to its InsulCool Ultra Pro series — the Ultra Pro 76 — a dual silver soft coat IGU engineered for high visible light transmission without compromising thermal performance in cold-climate and high-performance commercial applications.

What Is Ultra Pro 76?

The InsulCool Ultra Pro 76 is a soft coat, magnetron sputtered Low-E IGU make-up designed for specifiers who need maximum visible light transmittance alongside the low U-values required in climate zones 6 and 7.

With a visible light transmittance of 70% in 6mm configurations and 69% in 8mm, the Ultra Pro 76 addresses a common specification challenge: achieving daylight performance targets without sacrificing the thermal envelope.

The product is available in both air-filled and argon gas-filled configurations, in 6mm and 8mm substrate options, paired with a 12mm cavity and clear backing glass. For projects requiring maximum thermal performance, the Ultra Pro 76 coating is also available in a triple-glazed configuration through Cooling Brothers' IGU line.

Performance Data

All values are calculated to NFRC 2010. Centre-of-glass performance across the four standard double-glazed make-ups is as follows:

MAKE-UP (MM)VLT (%)SHGCU-VALUE (W/M²·K)
6 / 12 Air / 6 Clear700.341.617
6 / 12 Argon / 6 Clear700.331.302
8 / 12 Air / 8 Clear690.341.605
8 / 12 Argon / 8 Clear690.331.293

For cold climate double glazing projects in Victoria, Tasmania, and alpine regions, the Ultra Pro 76 is available in standard and argon-filled configurations to suit NCC 2022 Section J and Volume 2 / H6 compliance requirements. Specification data, performance calculations, and make-up comparisons across the full InsulCool Ultra Pro range are available from the Cooling Brothers technical sales team.

Using Ultra Pro 76 for Curved Laminated IGUs

The Ultra Pro 76 coating is highly suited to carving and bending without degradation to the soft coat. It is available in a wide range of curved laminated IGU configurations, extending the same 70% visible light transmittance and sub-1.30 U-value performance to feature façades, atriums, and lobby glazing where a curved profile is part of the architectural brief.

All Cooling Brothers curved IGUs are supplied from Bent and Curved Glass — part of the Cooling Brothers Group — so the same Ultra Pro 76 performance data applies whether the make-up is flat or curved. Specifiers combining daylighting and thermal targets with a curved design can contact the Cooling Brothers technical sales team to confirm curved make-up availability for their project.

When to specify Ultra Pro 76

The Ultra Pro 76 is positioned for projects in Victoria, Tasmania, alpine regions, and other climate zone 6–7 locations where heating load and condensation control are the dominant energy performance drivers. In particular, Ultra Pro 76 is suited to:

  • High-rise residential towers requiring NCC 2022 Section J or Volume 2 / H6 compliance
  • Commercial facades with daylighting performance requirements
  • Hritage-adjacent projects where high VLT is a design or planning consideration
  • any specification where a sub-1.30 U-value is required alongside 70% visible light transmission.

Specifiers working across a broader thermal range should also consider InsulCool Ultra Cool-E for climate zones 5–6, or InsulCool Ultra Plus for projects requiring the lowest available U-values.

Available Now Australia-wide: InsulCool Ultra Pro 76 Double Glazing
