Cooling Brothers supplied 12mm curved and flat Low-E glass for the revitalised 530 Collins Street façade, improving clarity and thermal performance.
Project Introduction
Originally constructed in the 1990s, 530 Collins Street remains a landmark in Melbourne’s legal and financial precinct. Home to several high-profile tenants including the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), the building offers prime location benefits, modern amenities, and excellent public transport connectivity.
A major upgrade led by Gray Puksand in partnership with GPT Group focused on revitalising the ground plane and end-of-trip facilities. The podium level façade was revitalised to improve transparency and public engagement, replacing the aging angled flat glazing at corner entries with smooth curved glass panels. This design shift enhances pedestrian sight lines and increases connection into the public realm.
Glass & Glazing Details
Oversized curved panels consisting of custom laminated low iron glass were supplied by Bent and Curved Glass for the corners of the building and selected areas of the ground floor entry. Cooling Brothers supplied flat glass for street level facade areas in a matching low iron custom laminate. All glass was installed by 808 Design Glass into new custom aluminium framing, fabricated to work into a new steel framing system.
